Other Things You Won't Find In The Phils.

In my previous entry I wrote about ads you won't find in the Philippines. Now these are some of the things I have never encountered (or will ever) in the Philippines:

Look at all these beautiful potted flowering plants! Nope they are not in the flowering shop but in front of a grocery store. That's what makes it different from the Philippines. What we have in PI usually are cut flowers and if ever they are potted, not all of them are in bloom.

During the fall and winter you will find the grocery stores selling firewoods too.

Second photo, heat in the waiting shed for trains. Photo shows the heat switch that goes in operation from November to March. Heat source is really like big yellow light bulbs on top of the shed. Waiting commuters will be huddled under it. In the winter a 10 minute wait in the cold would seem like eternity.

"All Four Legged Guests Welcome", isn't that cute? That and a dog bowl full of water sits on the sidewalk of Hotel Orrington (shown upper rightside photo) in downtown Evanston. It was a lovely Sunday morning when I took this photo, notice the people having brunch al fresco surrounded by flowers. Wish we had more of those in the Philippines.

Books, books and more books. What makes it amazing, they are all borrowed from our public library. In our school library back in the Philippines its 5 books tops and due date is after 1 week. In our city's public library in the Phils? You can't even take them outside. Here? Number of books: no limit. Date due: 1 month. Renewable for 2 months. Art books, Manga, Simpsons, Spiderman, Cathy all hardbound. Ah-mazing.

Guess

...who these 2 adorable boys "belong" to? Come on, the first has his name scribbled on it. Aren't they the sweetest looking kids ever?

Gilda, is that true? I am happy to hear about the flower industry in Cebu. I have always been envious of Baguio for having the abundance of flowers.

Nothing will prepare you for the books here. Book heaven!

In, you win a prize! :)

i love the picture of the flowers outside the stores. hopefully, it wont be long before we have something like that in cebu because our flower industry is getting better. the water for our four legged friends is something that may take a loooong time to reach our shores.

...and i love the part about the books! david said we will get a library card for me. i will probably be a fixture at the local library, hahahaha.

oh, and about the two boys, i think the one on the right is verrry cute, but i know i'm biased, hahahhahaa
