Of Treat Days

It is a tradition in the Children's department at work that every 2nd Wednesday of the month, birthday celebrants will bring in treats for everybody. It could be cookies, cakes, chips, brownies - all the bad things that come to mind. Needless to say, it's everybody's favorite time of the month.

Today was however a special treat day. Our VP and team planned a Cupcakes Galore treat for our creative director (the best boss in the world!). All team members brought in a dozen cupcakes each, imagine that! And those cupcakes are as big as those Dunkin Donuts muffins, not to mention the mile-high frosting. No wonder that even if the cupcakes feast started at 9am this morning, there was still aplenty left at 4pm.

That's American Customer Service For You

My officemate Michelle brought in vegan cupcakes from Blind Faith bakery which is near our place. Evanston is known for its "hundreds of restaurants" as she would put it. She wanted to order a dozen chocolate cupcakes but they only had 6 pieces left, so she substituted it with 6 slices of cake instead. What do you know, she got the cakes (4 slices at $2.75 a slice) for free as an apology for the bakery running out of supply. The cakes cost more than the cupcakes she paid for.

It's the same with Tom and his favorite Einstein's Brothers Bagels. Every Sunday he orders a dozen and a half blueberry bagels at this place. But a couple of time he forgets to pick them up (they close at 3). Is he given a hard time for it? No.

Here Comes Autumn

Photo was taken this morning. Trees are still 99.9% green around this area. But a hint of red can be seen in some vine leaves on our building. Weather forecast says that fall started yesterday afternoon. We will be having low 70's the whole week. I am taking down my sweaters this weekend and putting away my summer clothes. Another 6 months of being mummified by winter clothes again. Huhuhu

Mel, ginger and curry donuts? Yeeuuuccch! UPS bonx si Princess, natawa talaga ako dun. Makasave ka nga naman diyan hehe.

In-in, not naman treats for everybody, puede a box of brownies, or donuts. Yung iba nga isang pack lang ng chips. That's great about Target paying for cakes and goodies! Reminds me of Gift Gate, it's either absent ka or they pay you one day extra. Dito lang wala.

Ger I don't want to have a birthday in your work place if I have to bring treats for everybody hehehehe (mapordoy ko ana). Target pays for cakes and gooddies for the birthday celebrants every month. Like my past birthdays in Target, I usually get giftcards and card from team members that loved me siguro. We usually have ours on the last week of the month. If someone important was about to leave the store or going on a transfer then there is a big big party. When I first worked there I was surpised why they care about people's birthday.

I've never met any dessert I didn't like ( except I guess for those donuts that I had in Malaysia coz it's flavored w/ curry & ginger ). I have a very sweet tooth that sometimes I would skip the main meal so that I could have more space for the sweet treats.

It's starting to get chilly over here too but I like it a lot coz I can walk in the afternoon with the sun shining yet the wind is just perfectly cool. Malapit na holloween.Princess is excited on choosing her costume .Sabi ko she can pretend she's a UPS box & i'll dress her up with cardboard box & tape ( para tipid hehehehhe)

Bless, bald trees not to mention no people on the streets, kaya mas lonely ang dating.

Sandy, yummy but bad, bad, bad haha Sumakit nga tiyan ko eh.

Hey Hershey!

Tess, balik rin yung makati ang skin hehe.

Honeylet, as my husband would say 70s is perfect, pero that's cold to me. Nakakapagod rin yung 90s noh?
